I am excited to announce my re-election candidacy for the Brookline School Committee. It has been my honor to be a member of the School Committee for the past nine years, making me the longest-serving current member. My experience includes serving as Chair and Vice Chair, as well as extensive subcommittee work.
I also bring my expertise in education from my professional career as a special educator, educational team leader, literacy coach, and fifteen years as a school principal. I currently volunteer as a literacy tutor for elementary students and as a Special Education Surrogate Parent (SESP) appointed by the Massachusetts Department of Education. My children were born in Brookline and graduated from Pierce and Brookline High.
I am proud of the School Committee’s recent successes in the Brookline schools. I am running to continue the work we have begun and to support our newly hired Superintendent, Dr. Bella Wong. Our successes include:
Full-day BEEP (Brookline Early Education Program)
Implementation of new science of reading literacy curriculum
Development of PSB Strategic Plan
State recognition for our Wellness Plan
All Brookline schools ranked in the top 34 of the US News and World Report 2026 Best Middle School Programs in Massachusetts (higher than 96% of 1,064 schools)
Niche.com ranked Brookline #1 for Best School Districts of Massachusetts 2026 (out 217 districts)
Building a new Pierce School which avoids harmful construction materials following Town Meeting's PFAS Purchasing Resolution. This pioneering model is being shared across the state.
And still, we have much work ahead. Priorities include:
Fiscal stewardship and responsibilities with long-term planning
Educating the whole child
Curriculum and course approvals, and a solid base of tier 1 education for all through MTSS (Multi-tiered systems of support)
Staff professional development, collaboration of teams, and effective evaluations
Racial justice and equity as a central focus of decision-making
Democratic and transparent participation with the community
